PEMAHAMAN MAHASISWA TENTANG HAID DAN ISTIHADHAH; STUDI KASUS DI SEKOLAH TINGGI AGAMA ISLAM AL-KAMAL
Abstract
Every human being will definitely experience puberty, both male and female, each individual has different
characteristics. Males will experience puberty which is marked by the growth of the Adam's apple, having
wet dreams, mature hormones, and so on. While female puberty is marked by the enlargement of the
breasts and menstruation. Menstruation is blood that comes out when a person is of menstrual age, namely
entering the age of nine years and above, which comes out of the vagina (vaginal canal) of a woman, in a
healthy way meaning that the blood comes out not because of an illness but solely because of natural habits
and is not caused by giving birth to a child. The law of studying the science of menstruation and istihadhah
is obligatory because the requirements of prayer include being pure from minor or major hadath both in the
place and clothing. This study aims to 1) To explain the level of student understanding of menstruation
and istihadhah, 2) To analyze the problems of students in understanding menstruation and istihadhah.
This study uses an empirical research type with a conflict approach and was conducted at the Al-Kamal
Islamic College in February to March 2023. The subjects in this study were students of the Al-Kamal
Islamic College while the informants were staff, heads of study programs and students of the Al-Kamal
Islamic College. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by means of library research and
field research which included observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used
were data reduction, data presentation and data verification. Based on the results of the study, it can be
concluded that students' understanding of menstruation and istihadhah at the Al-Kamal Islamic College is
good, but in their understanding there are several factors that influence it, including a) Internal factors
include intelligence factors and experience factors. b) External factors include educational factors,
environmental factors, economic factors and information factors.
