Abstract

This research was conducted based on the following problems: (a) what was the role of Inquiry Learning
Model and Kapas (Paired Card) Media application in increasing students' understanding of the content of
Al-Qur'an? (b) what was the effect of Inquiry Learning Model and Kapas (Paired Card) Media
application in increasing students' understanding of the content of Al-Qur'an. While the aims of this study
were (a) to find out the role of Inquiry Learning Model and Kapas (Paired Card) Media application in
increasing students' understanding of the content of Al-Qur'an, (b) to find out the effect of Inquiry
Learning Model and Kapas (Paired Card) Media application in increasing students' understanding of the
content of Al-Qur'an. This study was an action research consisting of two cycles. Each cycle had four
phases: design, action, observation and reflection. The research samples were students of class XI MIPA 5
at SMA Negeri 1 Gresik. The data gathered were in the forms of pre and post test results and observation
sheets of teaching and learning activities. Based on the analysis of the findings, it was found that the
learning achievement of the students increased from cycle I to cycle II, namely, cycle I (52.94%) and cycle II
(94.41%). It can be concluded that applying Inquiry Learning Model and Kapas (Paired Card) Media
had a positive effect on the motivation and learning outcomes of the students of class XI MIPA 5 at SMA
Negeri 1 Gresik in the 2019-2020 academic year. Therefore, Inquiry Learning Model and Kapas
(Paired Card) Media can be used as an alternative to PAIBP learning
