KEPEMIMPINAN PESANTREN; POTRET GAYA, MODEL DAN PERAN PEMIMPIN PESANTREN
Abstract
Pesantren is the oldest Islamic education system in Indonesia which still exists today. The existence of Islamic boarding schools is proof that Islam grows in Indonesia with an extraordinary scientific spirit. The things that characterize Islamic boarding schools are dormitories or huts, prayer rooms as places to carry out various rituals of worship such as congregational prayers, reciting books and musawwarah or scientific discussions, clerics as the main leaders of the pesantren, students, and asatidz. Islamic boarding schools and kiai are two entities that cannot be separated. In addition to being a teaching figure, the kiai guides the santri to study various religious disciplines as well as a leader. Leadership in pesantren is very important because the life or death of a pesantren will be seen in the leadership pattern of a kyai. Leadership authority in a pesantren rests with a kyai, there is no pesantren without a kyai. The kiai at Pesantren have extraordinary charisma, considering that the kiai has a function other than being the highest leader in the Islamic boarding school as well as being the parent of the community. It is not uncommon for people to come to the kiai at Islamic boarding schools to complain about their various complex needs in community life. Not only that, if there are people who are sick, whatever their illness, they come to the kyai to only ask for blessings and not infrequently they ask for water that has been suwuk by the cleric with the hope that the kyai's blessings will cause him to recover from his illness. Pesantren leadership is also very essential and influential. Therefore, it is only natural that the role of a kyai becomes highly respected in the growth of pesantren. In order to create leaders who can be inspirational, it is necessary to form a dynamic learning community pattern. The formulation of the problem includes: 1) What is meant by leadership in a pesantren, 2) What are the leadership styles that exist within the scope of pesantren, and 3) What roles do a kyai have. This study uses the method of literature analysis obtained from several literatures. The researcher collected reference books and important notes about the leadership of the kiai in Islamic boarding schools and then translated them into easy-to-understand language. From the results of the study, the success or failure of Islamic boarding schools depends on which leadership style is adopted. Because whether we realize it or not, in the facts on the ground or in the literature that researchers have found, kiai have different leadership styles. From this description, researchers are interested in researching kiai leadership in Islamic boarding schools.Downloads
