PERAN KEPEMIMPINAN KYAI DALAM PEMBINAAN KEDISIPLINAN SANTRI DI PONDOK NURUSIBYAN SINGKAWANG

AbstractDiscipline development of students is an important aspect of education in Islamic boarding schools. Good discipline becomes the foundation for students to develop themselves and achieve the desired educational goals. One of the influential factors in fostering the discipline of santri is the leadership role of the Kyai. This study aims to dig deeper into the Kyai's leadership role in fostering the discipline of students at Pondok Nurusibyan Singkawang. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data obtained through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of related documents. The results of the study show that Kyai have a central role in fostering the discipline of students at Pondok Nurusibyan Singkawang. Kyai act as spiritual leaders, educators, and role models for students. As a spiritual leader, Kyai guides students in understanding and practicing religious teachings. Kyai give lectures, teaching, and spiritual direction to students on a regular basis. They also provide advice and understanding on the importance of discipline in religious life. As educators, Kyai provide religious teaching and knowledge to students. They teach religious subjects, including ethics, morality, and good manners. Kyai also help develop the academic potential and personality of students through guidance and motivation. As an example, Kyai shows behavior and attitude that should be emulated by santri. They maintain personal discipline, demonstrate integrity, and are responsible for carrying out Islamic boarding schools. With good behavior, Kyai provides a strong example for students in carrying out discipline and responsibility.
